With animal protein supply chains under siege during the pandemic, consumers are turning to plant-based alternatives, much as they were prior to current events but with perhaps an even deeper focus on health and wellness. No longer a niche lifestyle choice, plant-based products are a prominent feature of mainstream food culture. Our last Health + Wellness report found that 36% of consumers say they are adding or increasing plant-based protein in their diet.
