Planning and shopping for food and beverage is still done the old-fashioned way as most consumers continue to use handwritten or remembered lists in store, despite the variety of shopping and list management apps available. Women are significantly more likely to maintain a shopping list on their phone, use a retailer app or consult a recipe while they shop. Millennials are more likely than either Gen X or Boomers to use their smartphone in general in store, especially for reference and research activities.
