Americans’ approach to health and wellness in 2021 reflects both longer-term trends and pandemic priorities. Notably, the desire for a balance between physical and mental health is now nearly universal, and these are seen not as two separate areas in mutual balance but rather a web of inextricable connections. Consumers are increasingly aware of how physical and mental components of our health affect each other, and they desire to manage both in a holistic way. Mental health, already an important area of concern prior to the pandemic, has come into sharper focus, with consumers articulating desire to feel happy and good about themselves and to be able to manage stress.
