Ethnographic Analyst
The Ethnographic Analyst (EA) position involves extensive qualitative research including ethnographic interviewing, participant observation and in-depth analyses. The EA will be responsible for all facets of the project process including writing proposals, conducting consumer interviews, writing reports, conducting presentations and managing client expectations. The EA will have or quickly develop a clear working knowledge of all Hartman Group research models and intellectual capital.
- Full-time position based in Bellevue, WA
Responsibilities:
- Writing reports and articles for information presentation
- Collaborating with Ethnographic Research Team to ensure top-quality deliverables
- Applying Hartman Group research models and intellectual capital to all research projects
- Developing discussion guides and interviewing tools
- Managing project details - scope, timing, logistics, etc.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2-3 years experience in a similar qualitative research role, preferably with at least some applied work (i.e., not purely academic research)
- Strong analytical skills
- Graduate degree in a social science - anthropology, qualitative sociology, social psychology or similar discipline, Ph.D. preferred
- Superior writing, communication and presentation skills
- Self-motivation and flexibility within a dynamic work environment
- Relocation to Seattle and national travel to support projects required

Ethnographic Research Assistant
The Ethnographic Research Assistant (ERA) position involves skills required for ethnographic interviewing, participant observation, data collection and analyses. The ERA will be responsible for assisting Senior Analysts in the field, organizing and analyzing data, and other project requirements. This is a fast-paced entry-level position for individuals looking to start a career in applied anthropology.
- Full-time position based in Bellevue, WA
Responsibilities:
- Assisting with all facets of the project process including conducting consumer interviews and organizing and analyzing data for reports
- Collaborating with Qualitative Research Team to ensure top-quality deliverables
- Applying Hartman Group research models, including visual and language analysis, and intellectual capital to all research projects
- Managing project details - timing, logistics, recruiting, etc.
Qualifications:
- Some experience in a similar qualitative research role (internships and academic research projects)
- Strong analytical skills
- BA in anthropology, sociology, or similar discipline strongly preferred
- Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills
- Self-motivation and flexibility within a dynamic work environment
- National travel to support projects required

Quantitative Research Analyst
The Hartman Group is looking for motivated research analysts to join its growing team of quantitative specialists for market research. This position offers opportunities to gain experience using state-of-the-art statistical methods and analytical tools, in addition to honing interpretation and writing skills. The quantitative research analyst participates in all phases of our research projects, but is especially engaged in the analysis of survey data. We seek self-motivated, detail-oriented researchers who can thrive in a fast-paced team-driven work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop an understanding of The Hartman Group's research models, databases and procedures
- Apply our models to client projects in a timely manner
- Analyze survey data and prepare publication-quality charts and tables
- Perform data extracts and analysis of in-house data
- Collaborate with qualitative researchers to identify complementary uses of data
- Participate in report-writing
Qualifications:
- B.A./B.S. degree (or higher) in business, marketing, market research, statistics, social/behavioral science or allied field
- At least two years’ experience with at least one industry-standard statistical analysis package (e.g., SPSS, SAS)
- Experience with use of MS Office applications
- Experience with basic applied statistics, including multiple regression or ANOVA
- Ability to communicate clearly in written work
- Ability to work well as part of a research team
